In the heart of Concord, the New Hampshire State House was designed in 1814 by architect Stuart James Park. One notable feature of the building’s architecture is the difference in windows. From the first floor, the building has rectangle, arched, square, and partially arched windows with small round windows on the golden dome. This building is said to be “The nation’s oldest state house in which the legislature still occupies its original chambers,” which is inscribed in the granite entrance.
Scaffolding Engineering – New Hampshire State Capitol Dome Restoration Project with Seacoast Scaffolding and D.L. King in Concord, New Hampshire: design and engineering of a scaffold access platform that completely encapsulates the dome. Work included developing maximum reactions for the support platform, developing a guy-wire design to not allow the scaffold to bump the dome itself, maximizing planked levels to not overload the roof structure, and analyzing the scaffolding for a tarp enclosure.
Scaffolding Engineering – Little Bay Bridge Improvement Project with Safe Rite Platforms in Newington, New Hampshire: engineering of a suspended scaffolding work deck to facilitate repairs to the underside of the bridge. Work included developing reactions of platform hangers for bridge connections, and engineering maximum spacing between hanging truss members to minimize equipment.
