It’s been said that, “Idaho is as America was.” A western frontier with more wild land than developed and a mere 1.5 million people scattered throughout the nation’s 14th largest state. The I. B. Perrine Bridge was an engineering design feat in Idaho. This four-lane truss arch bridge is 1500 feet in length and 486 feet above the Snake River. Located in Twin Falls, Idaho, it carries U.S. Highway 93 over the Snake River Canyon. The original steel cantilever bridge was named Twin Falls-Jerome Bridge and was constructed in 1927 when it was said to be the highest bridge in the world. It was restructured in the 1970s and renamed after I.B. Perrine who spearheaded the irrigation projects of the early 20th century in Magic Valley.
Lewiston, Idaho with Technologie Anti-Corrosive: design of structural shoring to support large curved trusses for a concrete poured in place roof. The work included development of all structural steel connections, and the engineering of a work platform to allow access to the underside of the roof.
Boise, Idaho with SolarCascade: structural analysis of solar panels to ensure compliance with IBC and Boise building codes. Work also included the design of concrete foundations.
Minidoka County, Idaho with Ralph L. Wadsworth Construction: development of an engineered rigging and erection plan to facilitate the installation of the multi-span steel girder bridge. Work included maximum boom lengths for the cranes and girder erection sequence.
