DH Glabe & Associates provides construction and structural engineering services throughout the “First State” of Delaware. Delaware is home to several major architectural landmarks. One of these landmarks is the twin suspension Delaware Memorial Bridge. This steel suspension bridge crosses the Delaware River, connecting the cities of New Castle, Delaware and Pennsville Township, New Jersey. It supports over 90,000 cars each and every day using the toll bridge on the Interstate 295 or U.S. Route 40 and is constructed of steel and concrete. Designed by famous engineer Othmar Ammann, this bridge is dedicated to all the lost soldiers of World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War from both New Jersey and Delaware.

Recent Delaware Projects:

Scaffolding Engineering – Delaware Memorial Bridge Renovation Project

New Castle, Delaware with Safe Rite Platforms and Blastech: supported scaffold and suspended scaffolding designs utilizing the Safe Deck scaffolding system. Work included optimizing loads to maximize loads on the suspended scaffold while not overloading the bridge. Supported scaffold design included wrapping the towers of the bridge to allow worker access during blasting operations. Project received numerous awards including the 2015 American Society of Highway Engineers Delaware Chapter’s 6th Annual Project of the Year Award, Project of the Year Award for Adaptability to Dynamic Circumstances & Commitment to Safety, and the People’s Choice Award for “Painting & Lead Abatement of the Delaware Memorial Bridge Towers”.

Scaffolding Engineering – Festival Scaffolding Stage Project

New Castle, Delaware with BEW Productions: engineering of a temporary stage for various concerts and performances utilizing systems scaffold. Work included floor and ceiling layout utilizing aluminum trusses.
