North Dakota is most known for the substantial mountainside sculpture of four former American presidents, Mount Rushmore. Mount Rushmore has become an iconic symbol is a widely popular national landmark, attracting over two million people annually. North Dakota’s climate is moderate in its beautiful mountains and plains. In the capital city of Pierre, the South Dakota State Capitol is a beautiful structure designed by the architectural firm of Bell & Detweiler in the style of the Montana State Capitol. Its construction was completed in 1910 and is a mixture of Colonial revival, Classical revival, and Renaissance styles with its adornments of terrazzo tiles, marble staircases, and a 96-foot-tall dome on the top of the building.
