DH Glabe & Associates provides construction and structural engineering services in The Green State of Vermont. This includes engineering for commercial, industrial, heavy civil, and Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) projects. DH Glabe & Associates services all metro areas throughout the state including Burlington, Montpelier, Rutland City, Woodstock, Bennington and Colchester.
The Green Mountains run the diameter of the state providing that area with 75% tree coverage, which is comprised of mostly forests, making Vermont the leading producer of maple syrup in the country. Rich with history from the United States past, an interesting architectural piece located within Vermont resides at the Shelburne Museum is the state famous two-lane Covered Bridge. It was constructed in 1845 in order to provide passage across the Lamoille River. The bridge is known for its prominent arch trusses, patented by inventor Theodore Burr in 1804, allowing the structure to reach further distances. This 168-foot wooden bridge had the uncommon feature of a roof that both protected its interior as well as offer added structural support. The bridge was dismantled in 1949 and moved to the museum. Once there, the Covered Bridge was placed above a large pond much like the environment in which it was originally built, and was used as the entrance to the museum. After many years of service, the bridge was transitioned to a mere museum piece.
